Texas State University-San Marcos Tram

General Route Information:
The Bobcat Tram system is operated for Texas State students, faculty, staff, and visitors and is designed to alleviate campus parking demand and traffic congestion. Services are available from perimeter parking on campus, (Campus Routes) and from densely populated areas of San Marcos, (Off-Campus Routes), to serve this purpose.

Service between Austin, Kyle, New Braunfels, San Antonio and San Marcos is offered to Students, Faculty, Staff, and the General Public at an additional cost.

The system is supported by: Students, who pay a bus fee at registration each semester; faculty and staff who purchase parking permits contribute a small portion of their annual parking fee to operate the system; students, faculty, and staff as well as the general public pay a user fee to ride the Austin and San Antonio Intercity shuttle services. The system is in operation on all scheduled class and final exam dates. No on or off-campus service is provided on weekends or official university holidays. All buses are air-conditioned and meet Federal ADA requirements. Students needing special accommodations should contact Auxiliary Services prior to the beginning of the each semester. Bus Advertising

Updated rate sheet for interior bus advertising for the 2007-2008 school year

Students approved a Shuttle Bus Fee increase in the spring of 2006. This will allow for the purchase of 23 new buses which will begin arriving, and being placed in service, by February of 2007. Deliver of these vehicles should be complete by late April of 2007; all buses will be equipped with bicycle racks by this time as well. These new buses will address another Campus Master Plan philosophy, "Address the impact of emissions on the environment", by operating new low emmission diesel engines with a blend of Ultra Low Sulfur Diesel (ULSD) and Bio-Diesel fuel. This will greatly reduce the Volital Organic Compounds (VOC) and Nitrous Oxides (NOx) which are polutants that contribute to ground level ozone.

NOTICE REGARDING OFF-CAMPUS PARKING: Texas State DOES NOT PROVIDE PARKING AT OFF-CAMPUS LOCATIONS IN SAN MARCOS, KYLE OR AUSTIN. SEVERAL BUSINESSES IN THE AREAS AROUND SOME BUS STOPS WILL TOW UNAUTHORIZED VEHICLES.  BE OBSERVANT OF ALL BUSINESS’ SIGNAGE REGARDING PARKING RESTRICTIONS.
